Time leaves its mark.
A collection for work
Orma belongs to the years we devote to working, thinking and building: developing a project, an idea, a business, or a path in life. Each piece is designed to accompany us through those years and stand the test of time. Orma is made for those who see their work as a lifelong endeavour, for those who choose an object once and continue using it for years.
Orma is an Italian word. It means the mark left behind: a footprint, a trace. An object like this tells the story of its maker. In time, it also tells the story of the person who has lived with it.
What would we design today for someone to carry to work every day for the next twenty years?
01 — The material
Across the Arno — San Frediano, Santo Spirito, San Niccolò — Florence's makers are still at work. Open workshop doors reveal worn workbenches, the smell of glue and the sound of hammers reaching the street. This is the Florence of workshops, materials and craft, where the skills of making by hand remain part of everyday life.
Oltrarno draws on that character. It is a milled leather with a lively natural grain and rich colour, finished to reveal the material rather than conceal it. It is leather made to be used. Soft and natural, it changes with the person who carries it, becoming more personal over time.
Tanned and finished in Tuscany, the hides tumble slowly for hours inside large drums. This movement relaxes the fibres and brings out a grain that comes from the hide itself, rather than a pattern pressed into its surface. Dyed throughout, the colour runs through its full thickness. An extremely thin protective finish preserves its look and feel while improving its resistance to everyday wear, stains and light.
02 — The sign
A distinctive angular line recurs throughout the collection: on the flap of the crossbody bag, the pockets of card holders, the front of the briefcase and the keyrings. Its origins lie in Pineider's history, in the geometry of its envelopes and the intersecting lines that give them their shape.
With Orma, this geometry moves from the archive into Pineider's design language, with the same angle and proportion on every object. Everything else is essential and continuous: clean surfaces, long edges, regular volumes. The line introduces one single, precise interruption. That is where the geometry changes rhythm, and where the object becomes recognizably Pineider.
Each piece carries two signatures: the discreet Pineider logo, debossed into the leather, and this subtler motif.
The first signature is read. The second is recognized.
Remove rather than add.
03 — Construction & details
Nothing in Orma is generic. Interiors and exteriors are shaped by function, and every material, finish and component — from the linings and thread to the hardware — has been chosen or designed for this collection.
04 — Time
Bags and accessories designed for everyday work, and to accompany those who choose them for many years. Not a product tied to a passing trend, but a construction designed to withstand years of use, behind a simplicity that is simple only at first glance.
The leather can show marks, change and gain character without losing its identity. Day after day each piece becomes unique, and ends up telling the story of the person who carries it.
Colour guide
020 | Nero Calamaio
A deep, rich black drawn from ink in an inkwell. The most understated of Orma's colours: pure, absolute, timeless.
023 | Bruno Fiorentino
A warm, tailored brown that speaks of craftsmanship and continuity. More character than black, same discretion.
030 | Blu Inchiostro
The blue of ink as it meets the paper and slowly dries. As deep as black, but with a more personal, less expected character.
031 | Arancio Tramonto
The colour of the light over the Arno at the end of the day. Brighter and more unexpected, it is the collection's accent colour, breaking with Orma's restraint without departing from its character.
