London Mithraeum

The Mithraeum opened at the end of last year. It represents one of the few Roman traces found in London, a city rarely associated with archeology and with Roman history. Deep beneath Bloomberg’s European headquarters, after years of excavations, the dig turned up more than 15,000 objects including jewelry, shoes, animal bones, pottery, and brooches; a wooden tablet dated 8 January AD57 was also discovered, it is considered the oldest hand-written document in the history of the United Kingdom. The Mithraeum is open to the public, free of charge and it may be visited by both tourists and iconic Englishman who besides their umbrella and bowler hat will carry with them a classic leather briefcase, an important case to carry the document for their professional life, just like those produced by Pineider in different colors.
